Commerce and bartering are two different ways to get an object. Whereas the first one exchange the wanted object for money, the second exchange the object for another object, which is interesting the seller. As they are different, they both have advantages and inconveniences. Could bartering be chosen as an interesting alternative to commerce ?

First, I'm going to focus on advantages and problems of commerce. Commerce is based on the fact that everything can be traded for money, so it helps people by making all prices the same everywhere. But it is also a problem, because money can be different from a country to another : for example, pounds cannot be used in France or Germany, as these two countries use euro as their official money. Moreover, the change rate from a money to another always change, so conversions cannot be the same everytime. These are the main advantages and problems of commerce. I am now going to focus on the other way of trading : bartering.

Whereas commerce trades money for something, bartering trades an object for another one. The main advantage of this way of obtaining objects is that it is international, as it can be used in England, France, USA or every other countries the same way. It also have inconveniences : for example, water has not the same value in poor countries like Africans one and in rich coutries like European one. The same problem even applies in one country : one seller will not want the same things as another. This problem can also be seen as an advantage : it is possible to become rich fast and simply, just by selling things to a vendor who gives a better thing than what you just trade.

In this two paragraphs, I just explained the advantages and inconveniences of commerce and bartering. I think that both trading ways could be used as the main way to trade, but both have problems which avoid them to be apprecied by everybody.
